The project involves connecting over 5000 premises and building over 80km of new fibre infrastructure spine between Brighton and Gatwick Airport, along the “Route23” corridor. The project includes a mixed-economy of different interventions including Dig-Once, Commercialisation, Demand Aggregation, Gigabit Vouchers and Rural connectivity.
We have been instrumental in developing these interventions and shaping the proposed commercialisation model to provide Mid Sussex residents and businesses with direct access to
Gigabit-capable digital connectivity.
Working closely with Mid Sussex and West Sussex Council teams and local stakeholders, we developed the overall programme delivery strategy and successfully secured over £6m of funding.
Undertaking market engagement allowed us to produce an Options Appraisal and to develop a contract delivery strategy.
We successfully engaged delivery partners and designers through the SCAPE Procure Framework to achieve outcomes and implementation within the grant funding delivery requirements. Establishing strong governance and reporting structures, our team also embedded specific project control measures to minimise delivery risk and ensure a right-first-time delivery approach. By regularly reporting to DCMS and the LEP and managing all grant claims, we have maintained the pace of delivery (all against the backdrop of COVID-19) and have built confidence, trust and collaborative working between client, contractor and design teams.
