NGE - Liverpool Backhaul Network

Working in partnership with ITS and LCRCA (Liverpool City Region, NGE are completing the Liverpool Backhaul Project, a high speed fibre infrastructure project which will connect the 6 local authorities across the Liverpool region. The installation of the 212km full fibre, gigabit capable network will result in Liverpool being one of the most digitally connected areas in the country, thus leading to a local economy boost of £1billlion. 

Under the CNI collaborative, infrastructure installation and the network build has been achieved via efficient and cost-effective methods such as Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA), utilising existing duct space on existing network infrastructure reducing the requirement for intrusive installation methods, and significantly reducing overall deployment costs.

In collaboration with CNI and BHCC, PIA installation allows for a sustainable and efficient installation of fibre to be utilised for future corporate and commercial accessibility. Improving the scope and accessibility for existing and future businesses including a 5G network testbed. installation at the Brighton Corn Exchange, providing even greater network capability.
